Process design and evaluation

Different tasks in waste management require individual processing and plant concepts. For clients,  the Department of Anthropogenic Material Cycles regularly creates processing concepts which are adjusted to the given tasks and requirements.

In order to develop appropriate processing, initially, the department samples and analyzes the input material. It must be noted that every mixture of waste is different and that the material composition varies regionally and seasonally. The information gained from sample analysis is combined with machine-specific requirements and parameters of needed units. Moreover, necessary separation processes are taken into consideration as well as project-specific requirements – such as material to be recovered, desired throughput, desired application and purity etc.. Thus, an individual processing solution is designed.

If requested by the customer, processing can be tested, either in the departmental technical laboratory or on-site at the customer’s plant. In both cases, genuine material samples provided by the customer are used. Upon request, processing solutions can be supervised from the test phase to the final processing realization.

Unsatisfactory results of sorting processes in a waste treatment plant are usually a lack of proper dimensioning. These defects can be corrected by optimizing processing technology.

In this case, the Department of Anthropogenic Material Cycles can help by identifying weak spots and by creating an optimized concept. Therefore, both, the whole process chain and individual units are being analyzed for possible weaknesses. Doing this, the material flow of the whole plant and of the individual units are investigated and evaluated. Material-dependent parameters are taken into consideration as well as the project specific requirements which shall be obtained by the plant technology. In order to optimize concepts, tests with the original material can be carried out in the departmental technical laboratory.
