Recycling 2.0 – Die Wertstoffwende – Forum
Since April 2015, the Department of Processing and Recycling collaborates in the project “Recycling 2.0 – Die Wertstoffwende - Forum” funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The aim of the project is to initiate a process of rethinking in terms of a sustainable supply of raw materials in analogy to the German “Energiewende”. In order to meet the rapidly growing global demand for raw materials, a more intensive recovery of valuable materials from waste, e. g. complex end-of-life products, is mandatory. Primary sources of raw materials are more and more seen as depleted; growing anthropogenic resources grow to become an attractive alternative. Apart from purely technical and economic aspects, in addition, sociological and psychological aspects have to be considered for an improved recycling, as the consumer behavior plays a crucial role. The expansion of the cooperation network and the development of new markets are further pillars of the so-called “Wertstoffwende”.
Four project partners are working together in four sub-projects:
- New markets through optimized recovery of valuables
University of Applied Sciences Nordhausen - Comparison of different control measures to optimize resource recovery
Institute of Psychology (IPSY) of OvGU Magdeburg - Technologies for enrichment of secondary raw materials
I.A.R., RWTH Aachen - Research on the technical feasibility for new technologies and potentials for an increase in recycling
Institute of Mineral and Waste Processing, Waste Disposal and Geomechanics (IFAD) of the Technical University of Clausthal
